Data released this year by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) found that in 2012 the median annual wage for HR specialists was $55,800. The lowest 10% earned less than $32,770 while the top 10% got paid more than $95,380.
Labor relations specialists stats showed a median annual wage of $54,660 with the lowest 10% earning less than $17,690 and the top 10% taking in more than $99,030.
HR professionals are in good position in terms of job outlook. According to the BLS report, employment is projected to grow 7% through 2022 for human resources specialists and labor relations specialists. Despite the positive projection, the growth is a tad bit slower than the average for all occupations which is 11%.

"Job prospects for human resources specialists are expected to be favorable,” according to the BLS report. "Overall, candidates with a bachelor’s degree and related work experience should have the best job prospects."
